A collection of videos gathered from YouTube highlighting some aspects of mountainboard maintenance.

Two easy methods for how to replace your springs.

Note if your springs become warped / bent, you can rotate these to the opposite side of the truck. This should in effect bring them back into line, and lengthen there life span.

It is also important to pay attention to the eggs / dampas. These will degrade over time. Inspect them regularly for damage and softening to ensure you get the best performance from your board.

Or for a alternative setup go springless, Once you have seen the light you will never go back. West Coast ATB Truck co (springless setup)

Assembling hubs and changing your tyres.

Punctures and Slime

A very American video, showing the benefits of Slime. You can fill your tyres with it pre ride or use it to fix a puncture on the hill. 1 bottle will treat aprox 6 mountainboard wheels. It is quick to use and is far less hassel than messing around with a puncture repair kit.

Cleaning mountainboard bearings.

This video shows a skateboard but the process is the same.

Please note WD40 or similar is not a suitable lubricant for bearings. It acts more like a solvent, and in effect will disolve the grease. WD40 cannot withstand the high frictions endured and will result in your bearings being unusable within a short period of time. A more specialist lube should be sought. I recommend Bones Speed Cream.

Replacing your griptape.

Give tired griptape a good scrub with a dish brush to bring it back to life. Or better invest in some trampa tread. It lasts forever, and always holds firm.

Correctly set up your bindings.

Sound advice from Jon Diurba, however I prefer my ratchets down tight with my heelstraps tight and eliminating any slip. If you get your heel straps correct your feet will never move from the original set up. Take care to make sure all fixings are tight including the screw under the ratchet.

Hydraulic brakes

This video is for a Magura hs33 but will show you the basics on how to bleed and refill. It is a mountainbike video, but the process is the same.
